If you want YouTube research tools without a monthly bill, YouTool is the pay-once option. YouTool Pro is a one-time payment, not a subscription. The founding price is $5.99 until January 1, 2027 at 00:00 UTC (December 31, 4 pm PT). After that, Pro is $14.99, still one-time. vidIQ and TubeBuddy are subscriptions. As of October 2026, vidIQ's US list price for its Boost plan is $19 a month or $199 a year.
The trade-off is real. vidIQ and TubeBuddy are bigger products. vidIQ is built around monthly AI credits and an AI Coach. TubeBuddy's higher plan adds thumbnail A/B testing and bulk editing across your videos. YouTool covers public research, comment exports and a Chrome extension for YouTube and Studio, with no built-in AI. Below is what each costs, what you get, and who should pick which.
Search a topic and find videos that got at least 2× their channel's usual views.
These are the prices on each company's pricing page when we checked in October 2026, or the best source we could find where the page doesn't show one. Prices vary by region and change often. Check the linked page before you buy.

Sources: vidIQ pricing lists one-channel US prices and says local pricing may vary. TubeBuddy pricing loads its prices in your browser by region, so we could not read a US price from it. Two third-party pages give similar figures: Pro at $144 a year billed annually, and Legend at about $317 to $324 a year (KI-Syndikat, checked July 2026; OutlierKit, checked September 2026, a competing tool). Treat those as estimates. OutlierKit describes TubeBuddy's free plan as covering one channel, with Keyword Explorer capped at three results per query. YouTool's free uses refill every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Full details are on the pricing page.
The simplest way to compare is a year of use. vidIQ Boost billed monthly is $19 × 12 = $228 a year, or $199 if you pay annually. TubeBuddy Legend is roughly $317 to $324 a year on annual billing, based on the third-party figures above. YouTool Pro is $5.99 once during the founding window, or $14.99 once after it.
That math only matters if the tools do the job you need. A subscription you use every day can be worth more than a cheap tool that doesn't cover your workflow. So the next two sections are about features, not price.
The tools page lists 26 tools on the site. The research tools work on any public channel, video or playlist:
All of these except the FPS to MS Converter use the weekly free uses. Pro removes the weekly limit. YouTube's data limits and API quotas still apply.
Basic extension controls are free: loop, screenshot, playback speed, themes, hiding Shorts and ads, dislike display, a monetization indicator and streamer mode. Video Analyzer, Channel Analyzer and Comment Downloader in the extension use the same weekly free uses. Pro adds thumbnail buttons, Studio analytics export to CSV, extra analytics date ranges (first week, month, quarter and year), compact signals in the Studio video list, and two bulk tools: upload one thumbnail to all of a video's translated language versions, and set or clear related videos across your Shorts.
You can connect your channel read-only for free and see a preview of your stats. The full channel report is Pro. You don't need to connect a channel to use the public tools.
Here is where vidIQ or TubeBuddy may fit you better. We checked each point against YouTool's own code.
You may not need a paid tool to A/B test thumbnails. YouTube Studio has a built-in Test & Compare feature for eligible channels. Read YouTube's Test & Compare guide first, then use a preview tool like Thumbnail Tester to pick which versions are worth testing.
You want AI help built into the tool: content ideas, an AI Coach you can talk to, and trend research in one place. You'll use it often enough that a monthly AI credit budget makes sense, and you're fine paying a subscription for it.
You manage a large back catalog and need to change many videos at once, like finding and replacing text across descriptions or adding overlays to many thumbnails. Or you want A/B testing inside a creator tool, beyond what YouTube Studio offers. Those tools are on its Legend plan and up.
You mainly research public channels, videos and keywords, export comments, and want a few Studio helpers, without another monthly bill. You're comfortable using your own AI assistant with a prompt YouTool builds. Or you only need tools now and then, and the free weekly uses cover you.
Some creators use more than one. YouTool's free uses and vidIQ's free plan cost nothing to try, so test them on your own channel before you pay for anything.
The short version: vidIQ is the pick for built-in AI. TubeBuddy is the pick for bulk editing and A/B testing. YouTool is the pick if you want research tools, comment exports and Studio helpers for a single payment instead of a subscription.

Yes. You pay once, with no recurring fees. The founding price is $5.99 until January 1, 2027 at 00:00 UTC. After that it is $14.99 one-time. See the pricing page for the current price.
YouTool gives free weekly uses shared across tools: 1 a week as a guest and 2 a week when signed in. They refill every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Basic extension controls like loop, playback speed and themes are free.
Not directly. YouTool has no built-in AI. Channel Consultant builds a prompt from a public snapshot of your channel that you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, which some creators prefer, but it is not the same as an AI assistant inside the tool.
TubeBuddy's pricing page shows prices for your region when it loads, so the price you see depends on where you are. Third-party pages list Pro at $144 a year billed annually as of mid-2026. Check TubeBuddy's own page for your price.
