How the Outlier Finder Works

The finder compares a video's public views with the median across up to 20 recent videos from the same channel. If that recent sample cannot be loaded, it falls back to lifetime channel views divided by video count. The ratio surfaces unusual public view counts; it does not explain why a video performed differently.

Multi-Source Search

Runs three parallel searches (by relevance, view count, and upload date) and deduplicates the results for a much larger, more diverse pool of candidates.

Recent Median Comparison

Fetches up to 20 recent videos for each channel and uses their median public views as the baseline when available. If that fetch fails, the fallback is lifetime channel views divided by video count.

Public Signal Scoring

Combines the view outlier ratio with the video's public like-and-comment ratio. The score ranks this result set; it does not prove virality, audience retention, or future performance.
